Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 24 persons suspected of involvement in cult-related activities and political thuggery during a series of security operations carried out across the state.
The arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to tackle criminal activities and maintain public order in communities identified as potential flashpoints. Police authorities said the operation followed actionable intelligence on the activities of suspected cult groups and individuals allegedly linked to political violence.
According to the command, security operatives conducted targeted raids in several locations where the suspects were believed to be operating. The operation resulted in the arrest of 24 individuals, while security personnel also recovered items believed to be connected to the suspects' activities.
Police officials stated that the crackdown was aimed at preventing violence, protecting residents, and ensuring a peaceful environment across the state. The command stressed that cultism and political thuggery remain major threats to public safety and social stability.
