The OK Movement, the political platform backing the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has formally launched a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to drive its 2027 election strategy. Announced in Abuja by National Secretary Saadatu Sani, the structure signals an early, organised push to mobilise support across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
John Ughulu has been appointed Director-General of the council, with Sani serving as National Secretary. The team features six zonal coordinators: Suleiman Abubakar (North Central), Hashimu Dungurawa (North West), Amadu Gwambe (North East), Dr. Adebayo Adefolaseye (South West), Christopher Ighodaro (South South), and El-Shaddai Ikeh (South East). State-level coordinators have been named for every state, including Maiyaki Samson (Kogi), Tokji Mandim (Plateau), Yusuf Abdullahi (Nasarawa), and others covering the North West, North East, South West, South South, and South East. Ibrahim Jabir will handle the FCT.
Beyond geography, the council includes specialised directors for grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration. This dual structure of zonal-state coordinators and functional directors aims to ensure both broad reach and operational depth.
In her statement, Sani framed the appointments as a call to duty rather than personal recognition. She stressed that the OK Movement is driven by a national vision of a more prosperous, united, and functional Nigeria. Council members were urged to display discipline, loyalty, humility, and commitment while taking the candidates’ message from cities to wards and communities. The statement closed with the rallying cry: “A New Nigeria Is Possible. Nigeria Will Be OK.”
The move positions the Obi-Kwankwaso project as an early organiser in the 2027 race, prioritising grassroots engagement and coordinated messaging over personality-driven politics. By establishing a comprehensive national structure more than a year before the election, the OK Movement seeks to convert public interest into organised electoral machinery capable of competing nationwide.
