The Nasarawa State Police Command on Wednesday presented Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident cheques amounting to N30,845,424.03 to the families of deceased police officers who served under the command.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed made the presentation at the command headquarters. The event was detailed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nanselon.
The funds are intended to offer financial relief and support to the families of officers who lost their lives while performing their duties. CP Shetima praised Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu for his continued focus on the welfare of officers and their dependents.
He described the payments as a clear demonstration of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to standing by families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to manage the money carefully and, where possible, invest it in sustainable ventures that could generate ongoing income and improve their living conditions.
He further advised the families to use the support responsibly, noting that prudent handling could strengthen their economic security and create better opportunities for their children.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mrs Edith Jacob expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police for the intervention. She described the payment as meaningful assistance to the affected families and assured that the beneficiaries would handle the funds wisely.
The presentation underscores ongoing efforts by the police leadership to provide tangible support to the next of kin of officers who die in the line of duty.
