Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's Politics, Adeyemi said he has received credible information suggesting that his life is in danger, adding that there have been multiple attempts to harm him. Despite the situation, he maintained that he is prepared to appear in court and defend himself against the allegations levelled against him.
"I am not hiding," Adeyemi said, stressing that his absence from public view should not be interpreted as an attempt to evade justice. According to him, he is only taking precautionary measures because of the security threats he claims to be facing.
The controversy centres on Adeyemi's claim that he was appointed Director-General of the PFIPC, an organisation the Presidency has repeatedly described as non-existent. He also alleged that he paid ₦400 million through a proxy to secure the appointment and borrowed the money from individuals who have since reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Adeyemi further alleged that an additional ₦200 million was requested to facilitate the appointment, claims that have been strongly denied by the Presidency and the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The dispute has drawn nationwide attention after documents linked to the 2026 Appropriation Bill reportedly listed an entity described as the "Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council" with a budget allocation exceeding ₦1.3 billion. However, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga dismissed the council as fictitious and accused Adeyemi of forging appointment documents and falsely presenting himself as a government official.
According to the Presidency, concerns about the alleged council first surfaced in 2025 after complaints from the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. Authorities subsequently launched investigations, while President Bola Tinubu directed anti-corruption agencies to probe the matter.
Despite the legal battle, Adeyemi said he remains confident that the judicial process will establish the truth. He stated that he is willing to submit himself to the courts, insisting that justice should be allowed to take its course.
The controversy has continued to generate widespread public interest, with investigations ongoing into the activities surrounding the disputed council and the allegations made by both Adeyemi and the Presidency.
