Nigerian troops have successfully rescued 53 kidnapped victims and recovered eight vehicles during a series of coordinated military operations carried out across parts of Borno State.
The operations, conducted by security forces in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, targeted criminal hideouts and insurgent activities in several communities within the state. Military authorities said the missions were aimed at weakening the activities of terrorists and restoring safety in affected areas.
According to reports, the rescued hostages were freed during clearance operations in areas known for terrorist activities. The victims, who had been held captive under difficult conditions, were safely evacuated and are expected to receive medical attention and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.
Security personnel also recovered eight vehicles believed to have been stolen or abandoned by fleeing terrorists during encounters with troops. Other items linked to insurgent activities were reportedly discovered during the operations, further highlighting the success of the missions.
Military sources noted that the operations form part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorist groups operating in the North-East and prevent them from regrouping. Troops have continued to conduct intelligence-driven raids and patrols aimed at disrupting the movements and logistics of criminal elements in the region.
The armed forces reassured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in combating insecurity.
The latest rescue operation is being seen as another significant step in the ongoing fight against insurgency in Borno State, where security forces have intensified efforts to secure communities and ensure the safe return of abducted persons.
