The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has intensified efforts to institutionalise anti-corruption education in Nigeria's tertiary institutions, advocating the inclusion of corruption prevention and integrity studies in university and law school curricula.
The anti-graft agency said the initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at cultivating a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct among young Nigerians before they enter the workforce and public service.
According to the commission, corruption remains one of the major obstacles to national development, making it necessary to educate students on the dangers of corrupt practices and the importance of upholding integrity in both public and private life.
ICPC officials explained that introducing anti-corruption studies in universities and law schools would help equip future professionals with the knowledge and values needed to resist unethical conduct and contribute positively to nation-building.
The commission noted that the programme seeks to move beyond enforcement by focusing on prevention through education. It added that engaging students at an early stage would help shape attitudes and encourage responsible citizenship.
